About this workshop

This is a once-in-a-lifetime exclusive photo workshop during the solar eclipse in August 2026.

On August 12th, 2026, the western part of Iceland will be treated to a spectacular total solar eclipse, the rarest of them all. In this rarest of eclipses, the moon perfectly obscures the sun, making the eclipse visible for about two hours.

We’ll take you to a fantastic location to capture this rare event and teach you how to photograph it. We’ll send you a custom packing list with gear recommendations and all the details you need for this unique adventure.

We’ll start our time in Iceland in the fantastic Highlands, exploring the lunar-like landscapes, the geothermal colors, and the untouched wilderness. You’ll be surrounded by volcanic landscapes, rugged mountains, and hidden geothermal areas, making it feel like you’ve stepped onto another planet. You’ll find raw nature at its finest, with dramatic scenery that stretches out for miles. It’s raw, it’s remote and you’ll want to come back!

From there, we’ll travel to west Iceland to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and explore many of its famous locations: Black Church at Budir, Lonsdrangar, waterfalls, Kirkjufell Mountain, lighthouses, seascapes, birds, glacier views, and so much more. The solar eclipse will take center stage on August 12th, and we’ll be at a fantastic location for it.

Eclipse Times (Local time GMT)

The eclipse will start  at 4:45:25 pm

The start of totality is at 5:46:15 pm

The end of totality is at 5:48:03 pm (a total of 1 minute 48 seconds)

The ending is at 6:46:15 pm

Total Duration is 2 hours and 1 minute

We’ll stay at two locations, one in the highlands and one on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, to maximize our time for photography and limit travel time. This will be a very small group of a maximum of six people, so book your spot now on this adventure of a lifetime, exploring lunar landscapes and the Solar eclipse with us.

Testimonials

I joined the Highlands of Iceland Drone Photo Workshop in late Sep 2023. Our guide Skarpi, who is also the owner of Arctic Exposure, is an excellent guide with in-depth knowledge in photography and specifically drone photography. I really appreciate him sharing his expertise in drone photography and landscape photography in general. He made me feel more confident in flying my drone in the Icelandic weather, so I can take time to compose the image and get the results I really wanted.
