Halldór Jónsson (DÓRI)

Current Photography Gear
Halldór captures the world through the lens of his trusted Canon EOS R5, delivering stunning clarity and detail in every shot. For more spontaneous moments or travel-friendly shooting, he turns to his compact yet powerful Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II. To take his storytelling to new heights — quite literally — Halldór also flies a DJI Mavic 3 Pro drone, allowing him to capture breathtaking aerial perspectives of Iceland’s dramatic landscapes.
About
With nearly two decades of photography experience, Halldór has explored many aspects of the craft, but his true passion lies in capturing the raw beauty of landscapes and nature — both from the ground and the sky. As a licensed pilot, he brings a unique perspective to his work, often photographing Iceland’s breathtaking scenery from above, offering views that few get to experience firsthand.
Born and raised in a small fishing village, Halldór developed a deep connection to nature early on. That connection continues to shape his work today. Whether it’s calm or stormy, being out in the elements brings him peace and inspiration, recharging his creative energy and fueling his artistic vision. His photography is not just about capturing moments — it’s about honoring the wild, ever-changing spirit of Iceland.
Photography
Halldór firmly believes that skill and vision far outweigh the importance of having the most expensive gear. Rather than chasing the latest high-end equipment, he invests in tools that are reliable, practical, and perfectly suited to his creative needs — always ensuring the quality of his images meets his high standards.
For Halldór, the true art of photography lies in practice, patience, and thoughtful guidance. It’s this grounded and authentic approach that defines his work, allowing him to consistently capture powerful and meaningful moments in nature — regardless of the gear in his hands.
Testimonials
Snaefellsnes and South Coast
We spent 5 days with Halldor in Iceland travelling the Snefelsnes Peninsula and the South Coast of Iceland. He found a good mix of lesser know locations wiht few people and ultra famous locations that had more of a crowd. Overall a great trip and Halldor was professional, helpful and knowledgeable about photography, the locations and the history of many places we visited.
