Born and raised in Iceland, Daníel discovered his passion for photography as a teenager — a natural extension of his deep love for nature and travel. That early spark quickly grew into a lifelong pursuit, and since 1999, he has been fully dedicated to the art of nature photography.
Daníel’s work is a reflection of Iceland’s dramatic landscapes and quiet beauty. Over the years, he has authored four photography books, and his striking images have been featured in numerous books and magazines, earning him recognition both at home and abroad. With every photo, Daníel invites viewers into the wild and ever-changing world that first inspired him.

In addition to his photography, Daníel has been leading workshops in Iceland for over a decade, sharing his knowledge and guiding fellow photographers through some of the country’s most breathtaking locations. His expertise extends beyond Iceland’s borders — he has also led successful workshops in Greenland and Svalbard, making him one of the most experienced photography guides in these remote and awe-inspiring regions. Daníel is a fully licensed guide with the Icelandic Tourist Board, ensuring every adventure is both professional and unforgettable.
Beyond landscapes, Daníel has a lifelong passion for birds. His fascination with avian life has led to detailed photographic studies, published books, and nearly 20 years on the board of Fuglavernd (BirdLife Iceland), where he continues to advocate for bird conservation and education.
