Puffins for three days

We run our Three days of Puffins from May to August each year. On this private photo tour for two, we start the tour in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, with 9 am hotel pick up by our local guide. We visit the South Coast of Iceland and focus on photographing the puffing and sunsets at our puffing locations. We also stop at many of the beautiful waterfalls on the South coast.
We also offer Puffin day tours, and in our Around Iceland Summer Workshop from May-August, we dedicate two whole days of photography to puffins in both South and North of Iceland.

The Atlantic Puffin travels to land in the summer to nest during the warmer months. Iceland has the largest Atlantic puffin colony in the world, more than half the population comes to Iceland to nest in May, June, July, and August. Puffins are calm while nesting and can dig burrows with their beaks and wings. Their flying style is frenzied but Puffins’ wings can beat up to 440 times per minute.

In our Puffins for three days, we don’t have a detailed itinerary but we’ll visit great landscapes and focus on Puffins when the timing is right as we follow the light and weather. Here are a few locations you will see on this tour.

Please keep in mind that your native photography guide will plan each day based on light and weather conditions so you get the most out of your tour.

We then end the tour back in Reykjavik around 6 pm on the third day.
