Pétur Þór Ragnarsson
I was born in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland but moved straight away to the small town of Hvolsvöllur about an hour out of Reykjavík where spent the first six years of my life. I got a strong connection to nature living in such a small town and I travelled quite a bit with my family as a young kid.
After the first years, I moved back to Reykjavík where I lived downtown Reykjavík in my grandmother’s house. A large house where she ran an antique store on the first floor. My interest in cameras was first sparked then and there since a Danish friend of hers also ran a camera repair shop there so there was always a lot of cameras and gadgets around.
Most of my teen years and adult life has been spent in the great outdoors of Iceland exploring and riding bikes. I’m an avid mountain biker today and love a good thrash on the trail. I studied photography in the Technical college of Iceland and after my studies, I did an apprenticeship for 6 months to finish my studies. I’ve always loved travelling and outdoor activities so going into the photo guiding business came naturally.
Although landscape photography is a big part of me I still photograph lots of other things on commission such a mountain biking, weddings and various other things for advertisement.
