Our Autumn Photo Workshop in Iceland is for the serious landscape photography enthusiast and lead by native Icelander Skarphéðinn Þráinsson. In this Photography Workshop, we focus on Autumn colours and visit astonishing locations on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula & the South Coast of Iceland. It is a short season but the marvellous colours of autumn and the Northern Lights should tick most boxes for landscape photographers.

As for all our Photo Workshop, our goal is to assist you to get to the right locations at the right time for the best photographic results. With local Icelander as your guide, we provide the opportunity to reach some of the most amazing locations in the country in beautiful colours. Go with the light, for the light with local expert knowledge.

What is included in our Autumn Photo Workshop?

Autumn Photo Workshop in Iceland – Tour Leader

Skarphedinn Thrainsson (Skarpi), Pro Landscape Photographer and Tour Operator native to Iceland. He’s specialising his exquisite photography work on the Icelandic Nature including volcanoes, ice caves, animals and landscapes. Skarpi also runs a publication among other projects in Iceland. Skarpi has vast experience in hiking, travelling, driving, and photographing the raw Icelandic landscape.

Itinerary – Autumn Photo Workshop in Iceland

Flexible and adjusted to weather, as always when travelling in Iceland

Day 1 – Arrival in Reykjavik

Arrive in Iceland and check into your hotel in Reykjavik. Group dinner and meeting. We briefly go over the itinerary and prepare our adventure in Iceland. If you arrive early in Reykjavik, you can photograph some of the cityscapes such as Hallgrímskirkja, Harpa Concert Hall, or the Sun Voyager.

Day 2 – Þingvellir – Snæfellsnes

We start early from our hotel in Reykjavik and drive straight to the great autumn landscape in Þingvellir National Park, we capture the autumn colours in the soft light at sunrise, then we keep on further west to more great autumn colours at some remote waterfalls and farm areas. We overnight in Snæfellsnes for the next two nights.

Day 3 – Snæfellsnes

We visit the famous mountain Kirkjufell and other spectacular locations when we circle the Snæfellsnes peninsula, such as Lóndrangar, Arnarstapi, Black church at Búðir to name a few locations. Capturing the aurora over mountain Kirkjufell is “The Dream Shot” for many photographers.

Day 4 – Snæfellsnes – Vík

After sunrise in Snæfellsnes, we travel to the south coast to capture some of the greatest waterfalls in Iceland, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. The next two nights we’ll stay in Vik, surrounded by great landscape and seascape.

Day 5 – Vík

We spend the whole day exploring, and capturing some of the great seascapes and rock formations in the southernmost part of Iceland. Dyrhólaey, Reynisdrangar, Vík, Sólheimajölull and Mýrdalsjökull to name a few of the locations.

Day 6 – Vík – Glacier Lagoon

From Vík we travel further east to Vatnajökull National Park and Glacier Lagoon area, on the way we’ll stop at some mysterious locations such as the moss-covered lava fields in Eldhraun, turf roof churches, Skaftafell and hike up to the Black Falls and glaciers.

Day 7 – Glacier Lagoon – Höfn/Stokksnes, Vestrahorn

The picturesque east fjords are calling us. We will stop at the more jagged coastal peaks of Vestrahorn and we’ll stop in ample locations to photograph sea stacks, the winding roads and cascading streams down the steep terraced mountains. Perhaps Reindeer (the trademark of East Iceland) will cross the road on this autumn tour.

Day 8 – Vatnajökull National Park – Reykjavik

After capturing our last sunrise on this tour in the Glacier Lagoon area, we travel back west and we’ll be flexible with locations, and stop where the light is good and conditions right. We arrive in Reykjavik in the afternoon and have our last dinner together.

Day 9 – Departure
We check out our hotel in Reykjavik and take our transport back to Keflavik airport for a goodbye Iceland.

Cancellation & Refund Policy – Autumn Photo Workshop in Iceland

If you cancel and the Workshop is otherwise filled, we will refund you the full amount you have paid towards the tuition, minus a $150 service charge. If you cancel and the Workshop does not fill, then you will be refunded according to the following schedule, based on the full fee of the Workshop:

Greater than 90 days from the start date of the Workshop: full refund minus $150 fee.
75 days: 75% refund
60 days: 50% refund
Less than 60 days: no refund

Refunds will be paid by the same method that the original payment was made.
Refunds will be initiated within 72 hours of the time that the request is approved.
