Greenland & Iceland Photo Tour
Our Greenland & Iceland Photo Tour offers you the opportunity to make the most of your Arctic visit. Finally, we offer a Photo Tour where we combine these two great unique countries. This all-inclusive ten-day photography tour provides you five nights in Iceland and another four nights in amazing Ilulissat Greenland. In Iceland and Greenland, we will look to photograph the majestic Northern Lights each night.
In Iceland, we will focus on the West and South of the island with the first night in Reykjavik, two nights in Snæfellsnes Peninsula and one in the South. You will get the opportunity to photograph seascapes, waterfalls, mountains, churches and glaciers, along with many other photo opportunities all engulfed in the autumn colours.
After four nights in Iceland, we head to Greenland. We spend the next three days in Ilulissat. The towns name in local Inuit means Iceberg and is drawn from the massive Jakobshavn Glacier that is next to the town. The Glacier calves some 35 billion tons of icebergs into the sheltered waters of Disko Bay and the ice fjord. We shoot icebergs, glaciers and mountains from a boat and land. The Ilulissat Icefjord is one of the most Northern UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is 66km wide and 55km long.
After Greenland, we arrive back to Reykjavik, and you will spend the last night of the tour before you depart home at a comfortable centrally located hotel. This gives you the opportunity to spend the first and last days exploring Reykjavik.

Greenland & Iceland Photo Tour – Itinerary
Please note that this is only a suggested itinerary, we may alter days or activities according to weather and conditions. We will, of course, be hunting Northern Lights every evening when weather and conditions allow.
Day 1 – Arrival in Reykjavík
Arrive in Iceland and check into your hotel in Reykjavik. Group dinner and meeting. We go over the itinerary and prepare our adventure in Iceland.
DAY 2 & 3 – Snæfellsnes peninsula
We start early from our hotel in Reykjavik and drive straight to the great autumn landscapes in West of Iceland. The group will make a few stops on the way to Snæfellsnes Peninsula where we spend the next two nights.
We visit the famous mountain Kirkjufell and other spectacular locations when we circle the Snæfellsnes peninsula, such as Lóndrangar, Arnarstapi, the Black church at Búðir to name a few locations. Capturing the aurora over mountain Kirkjufell is “The Dream Shot” for many photographers.
DAY 4 – Þingvellir & The Highlands Waterfalls
We start the day early in Snæfellsnes and head towards South of Iceland. We drive straight to the great autumn landscape in Þingvellir National Park. After lunch, we focus on the many beautiful waterfalls around the Highlands. Háifoss & Þjófafoss to name a few.
Hopefully, we get some chance of Aurora in the evening before we head to our hotel for the night.
DAY 5 – Flight to Ilulissat Greenland
Early morning again, we have a flight around noon so we try to make the most of the time in Iceland. We arrive in Greenland around noon, as we gain three hours because of the time difference. We will spend the day in the town of Ilulissat after getting settled into our hotel. Possibly we will walk the Unesco Trail and photograph the Icebergs from land for sunset. Northern Lights may show themselves in the evening.
DAY 6 to 8 – ILULISSAT GREENLAND
The next three days we will sail the fjords around Ilulissat, we sail around magnificent Icebergs in the best light. We will visit glaciers and photograph local settlements around the area.
Sunrise can be special from many areas in Ilulissat and close to the hotel. We will hope for a spectacular showing of the pastel blue/pink skies that are common in these parts, lighting up the landscape in a manner that is special to Arctic Greenland.
Day 9: Last day in Greenland & flight back to Reykjavik Iceland
The flight leaves in the morning back to Reykjavik Iceland. We spend the last few hours if the weather allows for sunrise photography before we pack up and head to the airport.
In Reykjavik, we get you to a hotel in the city centre and say our goodbyes. You can spend the afternoon and evening in Reykjavik for some shopping or photography.
Day 10: Ilulissat
Departure day from Iceland. We include Flybus vouchers that will able you to get to Keflavik Airport. The shuttle will pick you up at your hotel.
You may be thinking of extending your stay in Iceland for a few days. If so, we offer our Photo Workshops both before & after the Photo Tour. Please contact our office at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and a good deal booking two Photo Tours.
